The Memories of Tibet

Tibet is my heaven. If there is heaven on Earth its here. Being at the top of the world I found peace. I simply love the Tibetan people. They are beautiful and amazing in their own way. In my 10 months of travelling they are the best souls I have met. So divine, so magical, they could very well be from another magical world.

This article is all about my experiences and feelings from my trip . For useful information please refer to another post – How to How to Plan a Tibet Trip?

On route to the Everest Base camp.

This is one of those moments that define your life. These memories on top of the world have a different meaning to life altogether. The night I spent at Everest Base Camp (EBC) will stay in my memory for ever. Especially the bit of me running down towards the Everest Base Camp after a 45 minute hike because weather suddenly changed and it started raining/hailstrom/snowing. I ran for cover but I had nowhere to go. With EBC 2 km down and Mt Everest on my back on a late evening in the summer of 2015 I ran and ran at 5300m wearing just my hoodie and travel pants. It wasn’t too cold but the fact that once the clothes are wet they won’t dry anytime soon. Of course the night was difficult too, without much sleep under 5 kg of duvet and temperatures dropping to below zero without any central heating I had to resort to inhaling in oxygen which we carried with us.

Thats the way to the Chomolungma Bas Camp. Rough, off road, quiet and almost dead. Tibet, 14 July 2015

And the nomad in me meeting the real nomads:

Here is the nomadic lifestyle. I clicked this picture on day 7 of our trip near a glacier. It was pretty intriguing to see how life still exits. The real life of a nomad travelling from one wilderness to another. If I was born in Tibet as a nomad how would my life be?

And: This is the place where I connect with most. All the places I have visited in the last 10 months have had substantial population but this place, being on top of the world, is remote, beautiful and untouched from the worldly developments. I clicked innumerable pictures and every picture is a wallpaper, that’s how photogenic Tibet is.

Before I go I must leave some beautiful memories behind, for me and for everyone.

Well I will not remember these kids. Out in the middle of nowhere they appeared just next to the road, asking for money or food. Either they know that visitors pay them with money or food. There don’t seem to be any houses around and at 5200 meters you wonder what on earth are they doing there.
